   After the Tribulation of the early 22nd Century, much of Earth was left in ruins. The human population dropped considerably. Most cities were leveled. Entire governments collapsed. Corporations had to find new ways to sustain themselves globally. Private armies and violent raids became the normal way to compete.
   From mysterious portals that opened all over the globe, fantastic races and strange creatures came forth from worlds never before known to humankind. Undead, angels, demons and dragons infested the lands where men no longer resided.
   Dark elves who emerged in Japan were captured and sold off as slaves. Some were trained to be killers in ancient forms of martial arts. Utilizing their innate magic with their skills, they became ruthless assassins and guardians of businesses and governments who could afford to purchase them.
   Where once stood towers in New York City, Halcyon was born, a beacon of hope in this dramatically changing world. Mercenaries preyed upon corporations to steal information and technology, to sell to the highest bidders throughout the world.
   Alec Laurence, after a near-fatal run against a corporation in Halcyon, retired from his life of extracting such goods. Along with Eizo, the dark elf ninja he saved from a life of servitude, they escaped the city to live where few humans resided.
   Upon arriving at their new home, they become entangled in a war between demons and the undead. With no others to help them except a small group of dark elves and a benevolent dragon, Alec and Eizo must fend off an endless and almost unstoppable force.
   With limited supplies and no allies they can trust, can they survive such odds?
